Verbatim from the video: Not pretty- but real
"Yeah hats off, hats off to Carl because we had this amazing discussion that I’ll never forget just uh twenty minutes ago. And there’s times when you go to bed with ‘um thoughts that you know are brave and uh, you wake up with those same thoughts. But acting on that bravery to lead everyone forward is, um, it’s a responsibility that’s quite um, it’s quite refreshing. And I love building surfboards and I’ll always build my own boards and I love riding any surfboard, but when it becomes a role of building something for someone else: that’s a radical thing. And um, that really makes excited. And the reason why these guys are so stoked and and the age that they are still so involved is ‘cuz when you see somebody else ride something that you designed; that’s a stoke. And they didn’t tell me that when I started. Well, no one was around to ask. But, you know riding something you make is really cool but seeing something - somebody else ride something that you’ve made, I’m telling you (chuckle) it’s really cool! (background chuckling) So that’s where I come from and um, design and innovation is uh something that you act on and then continue to walk through but, uh, it’s an honor to be here and thank you so much for having me be part of the show alongside these great minds. I respect um everybody’s path immensely. And all these paths, behind every one of these boards - there’s a story and a family and a support system and uh - this is life! We happened to be fascinated by similar things so we have shared lives in terms of surfboards on the water, but um, we walk through life together building things for other people and sharing thoughts is... I love that part of it. It’s probably the best part for me."
