Time spent with Grant Ellis.
I have so much respect for Grant as a photographer. I had not met him till fairly recently but along side images through the years I began to know his name and respect his perspective on the people waves and moments of the surfing life. Being a fellow South African it's a common bond and proud sense of origin.
Grant stopped by to show me a board he recently shaped in the back yard and it put many shop stock models to shame. We spent some discussing things that mattered and the joys and frustrations of the current surfing platform.
I'll never forget his perspective and value the passion towards the same causes that I awake to daily and like he and many others, strive to pursue and progress with excellence.
Grant ever so gracefully shot a few rolls around the shop with some propper cameras and being a fascinated photographer myself I valued the committed approach and it seemed special and sincere.
When you break down the investment of life skills that are applicable to your fascination and character for a lifelong expectation. Surfing could be compared to very few other things.
